Army Street
Welcome to Seismic Yarn & Dyeworks, an independent dye studio located just outside of San Francisco, CA
Army Street is a dark, broody, almost neutral green. It has some brown overtones, slightly blue leaning undertones and all over awesomeness.
A little history: in 1995, the powers-that-be in City Hall changed the name of this huge, major street to Cesar Chavez. Then they got a bill for $900K+ for new freeway signs (it affect 2 major freeways) and related accessories and tried to act like it wasn't their problem or responsibility. I'm still not clear who ended up footing the bill or why they only budgeted $20K for new signs. Even in 1995, I could have told you that wasn't going to work.
Anyway, here's the thing: it was Army Street for my entire childhood and you know what? It's still Army Street to me. When talking to "old school" San Franciscans, it's Army Street to them too. I've learned to call it by its new name when talking to transplants, tourists and the younger generation but I do notice when someone uses its original name. You may notice a nod of approval if you refer to it as Army Street as well.
