Pebbles & Sand Cowl Kit
Pebbles and Sand Cowl and Stole designed by Kristin Lynn (@artfullyhooked on Instagram) is one of nine designs in @thesunandfog Winter 2021 Collection, a collaboration of knit and crochet patterns by Bay Area designers and dyers celebrating community and togetherness from the foggy shores to the sunny valleys of Northern California.
The textured crochet cowl evokes the pebbled and wave-rippled sand of a rugged Northern California beach. With varying rows of shells, mesh, and puffs, the fabric is at once airy and cushy -- a comforting and lightweight layer of extra warmth.
The cowl is worked in one long piece then seamed. The pattern also includes larger stole versions worked in halves from the foundation chain outward with optional beads on the edging. The stitch pattern is easy to remember and suitable for beginners and experienced crocheters alike.
For this design, Kristin enjoyed the dual inspirations of the California coastline and a desire to create a simple and eye-catching piece to be worn both indoors and out.
This pattern uses fingering weight yarn and was designed using Butter Single and Butter Sock in colorways Blue Pearl, Fogust, and Apatite. Kits include a Ravelry download code and 1 skein of yarn - if you would like to make a bigger size, you can add additional skeins found in the individual colorway listings. If you would like to make your own kit, the pattern can be purchased directly from Kristin on Ravelry or Etsy. If you prefer not to use Ravelry, please contact Kristin with your code and she will arrange for alternate delivery.
A postcard with your download code will be included in your package. If you would like to download the pattern in advance, please reply to the confirmation email to ask for your code (it will be the same as on the postcard).
